McGill Students Chinese Music Society

McGill Students Chinese Music Society (MSCMS) is a club that promotes various styles of traditional Chinese music and facilitates the exchange of occidental and oriental music. Formed by students with a passion for Chinese music in 2013, we have since grown from a small group of passionate individuals to an extensive society. Currently, we have thirty ensemble members and over three hundred general members, and the size of our club is continuously growing.

The aim of our society includes the promotion of traditional ensemble-playing and the development of students’ interest in Chinese music. We strive to build an atmosphere for music appreciation within the university and throughout the community at large. Rehearsing once a week, the ensemble is constantly preparing music for performances at events organized by many other McGill student organizations and local Chinese Associations and senior homes, in hopes of spreading awareness of the beauty of Chinese music.
